UPDATE: It is an original Dali. It's now 10:12 am, Manila time and I just won the bidding wars!!!
I am up at 3 am!!!! Manila time waiting for an email re: the authenticity of a Dali lithograph I'm trying to acquire in a bidding. The estate sale is in Ohio so I'm relying on a specialist. The bidding ends in less than 6 hours, so I am pulling an all-nighter, eating junk food, waiting for emails and making overseas calls.
This is Dali Dreams, King of Coins (1978). Everything checks out, nothing fishy in my humble non expert opinion, reasonably priced. I am hoping that this is either an "original" print (lithograph made by Dali) or a "cooperative" print (lithograph supervised or authorized by Dali). It is signed, and numbered (out of 250) in pencil.
Found in “The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali” by Albert Field, catalogue field 78-3 on page 131.
I like this draft more. Textured, halftoned, changed the color palette to American retro to clash with its geometric Japanese vibe. I need to add more dimension and more elements somewhere but if this is the final thing, I'm happy. I'll probably leave it alone for a while.
First draft. I'm having problems with this one. Illustration is 80% done. Hastily painted on halftones just to see how it would look like a bit textured. I'll probably figure out what I don't like about it over the weekend, and hopefully finish a second draft. This is an illustration of me trying to chase summer. I'm a beach girl to the core and I'm kind of refusing spending Christmas in a cold country. But anyway, here's the full The Endless Summer II movie (after the cut) to keep us all warm this season. It's my favorite Summer movie.
Illustration number two in my Vampire Weekend series. All first drafts. I illustrated details of the outfit which was referenced throughout the song. More illustrations and link to the song after the cut.
Is your bed made? / Is your sweater on? / Do you want to f***? / Like you know I do
For this week, I illustrated Horchata by Vampire Weekend - a classic December song. I illustrated a Horchata recipe which I think is mega cute! Link to the song after the cut.
Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. Probably my favorite of the series. One of the first ones I made. I just quickly texturized it so he can hang out with his new textured friends, Luther and Dr. Strange. I will re-do these someday (not so near future) as I'm learning how to halftone and texture better.
An old drawing, retextured. Second draft, still have some issues with it. Thinking of making a Rey Mysterio one and a Nacho Libre one so that this Lucha won't be an only child.
It's 3am and I drew Idris Elba in his Detective Luther outfit. I'm pissed because he looks like 50 Cent. BUT I love his textured face and outfit! Not his hair, I will work on your hair, and your face to make it less rapper and more copper, I promise!
